Discipline has never been an easy suit for me to wear. Having to quickly wrangle an idea became progressively easier - that is not to say the work got better - I was simply less preoccupied with making them great. There was something in the simplicity of these prompts that I could play around in. Many months ago I went to see the David Lynch exhibition, Between Two Worlds, at GOMA. Walking through the spaces filled with his work I realised that every day he created something, anything. Forcing myself to create a piece each day based on a prompt far removed from my own thought patterns is becoming essential to developing the habit that is writing.
